We were at Nor-Shipping in Oslo at the beginning of April. Many looked forward to meeting business contacts face to face after two years of the corona pandemic. Even if the Nor-Shipping exhibition was smaller than usual, there were many visitors, and they were extra happy, extra curious, and extra interested in what we had to offer.
”It was very inspiring to meet our customers, and most of them were new customers,” says Patrik Wistrand, Sales Engineer at Caldaro.
He was at Nor-Shipping together with Stefan Hansson, the Quality manager at the site in Flen, where they do the precision work with our marine controls.
”It was the first time he attended an expo, and it was highly appreciated by our customers, who could ask detailed questions and get knowledgeable answers on the spot.”
Patrik says that there were many visitors to Caldaro’s exhibition stand every day of the show, except the last, but that’s normal. His experience was that the customers had a persistent need to check out new suppliers.
”Many showed interest in our products, and we got many leads.”
The new design attracted people
He was proud to see that the new booth design attracted visitors, and some of them even commented about the clean and stylish design. The green LED lights were eye-catching.
”I think it looked modern and fresh!”
The green trend at sea
The climate crisis calls for new energy solutions, and also, in the marine segment, it is evident that the trend is moving towards electrification. Another part of the new energy solutions might be hydrogen. There were many seminars about green energy.
”When people talked about this a couple of years ago, they talked about possible solutions; today, they do it for real,” explains Patrik.
New ideas and interesting requests
With a motorised joystick, it’s possible to control many levers at the same time. The demand for motorised joysticks increases and creates a new standard for the industry.
”We got new energy from Nor-Shipping,” says Patrik. ”We went home with a bunch of new ideas to develop and many interesting requests from prospects.”
”We look forward to the next expo, SeaWork in Southampton, from June 21 to 23. It’s the first time that we will attend at SeaWork, so it will be extra exciting. I hope to meet many new customers there!”
